I Couldn’t Have, I Was Playing Hopscotch with Hawkmoth

mercurialrain:

Felix slid into his seat next to Dupain-Cheng, wondering what would happen today.

It seemed that her new policy of dealing with Lila’s lies and the simultaneous ire of the class was to say whatever crazy thing popped into her head whenever they accused her of something. It had been rather entertaining, to say the least.

The first time she’d done it, their faces had been so comical that it had made Felix wish he’d brought his camera to school.

“Marinette! How could you shove Lila into the lockers?” Kim had stood in front of the crowd, his arms crossed in what was clearly meant to be an intimidating pose.

Marinette had looked up with a blank expression.

“I couldn’t have, I was playing hopscotch with Hawkmoth. He’s a really bad loser, so I had to leave before he had a full-on temper tantrum.” She had said it with the blandest tone he’d ever heard her use, which only added to the effect.

Everyone’s mouths had opened and closed like a fish’s, trying to figure out how to respond to her answer. It was obviously not true, but how did someone respond to that?

She’d held Kim’s gaze, no trace of amusement on her face.

It had worked exactly how he suspected she intended; they hadn’t managed to come up with anything before Bustier had come back in the room, breezily instructing everyone to turn to page 294 in their textbooks.

The next time, it seemed that they had come a little better prepared, allowing Alix to lead the charge. She was notorious for having a witty retort to everything, so it made sense. Unfortunately, Marinette had also come with a plan.

“Marinette! Care to tell us why you sabotaged Lila’s project in the art room?”

Marinette had held up a finger, digging in her backpack. The class had watched with interest, as this was the first reaction that hadn’t been outright hostile or bland.

She’d pulled out her tablet and typed something before turning it around.

Can’t talk. I lost my voice after too much yelling at the heavy metal concert I went to last night.

Alix had blinked at the idea of sugar-sweet Marinette attending a heavy metal concert, but recovered quickly. “Ok, so type out why you destroyed her project!”

Some more typing, then a response. Couldn’t have, I was helping scientists extract DNA from mosquitoes in amber to make dinosaurs.

“That’s the plot of Jurassic Park!”

Where do you think they got the idea from?

Alix had stared for a moment more before throwing up her hands. “This is useless, she’s clearly gone off the deep end!” She’d stormed out, leaving the rest of the class behind, unsure of what to do now that they’d lost their ringer.

Again, Bustier had made the decision of what to do for them, coming in with a reminder of the worksheet they had due at the end of class.

Needless to say, Felix believed that this was a very good use of her creative mind. Watching her outsmart the idiots of the class in her own way was endlessly amusing and had quickly become his favorite part of the day.

Today, before the daily confrontation, Bustier had assigned them a project, a partner project with their deskmate. For Felix, that was Marinette. Since they’d been working on the project all day, Lila hadn’t had the chance to leave and lie about anything, pushing the confrontation to likely after the lunch break. Felix could hardly wait to see what she said this time. Maybe this project would allow him to get to know and understand her better.

“So for the project I was thinking that we make a PowerPoint-” Marinette cut herself off, staring at him with a puzzled expression. “You’re almost smiling at me. Are you feeling alright?”

Felix immediately wiped his expression, mildly mortified that he’d outwardly shown his amusement, but forged ahead. “I see you got your voice back. Was the heavy metal worth it?”

“What? Oh, that. I’m fine.”

“Oh, I know. Your recent interactions with the class have been thoroughly entertaining.”

“Glad you’ve been enjoying it. Confusion is certainly better than outright hostility.” She sighed, suddenly looking very tired.

“It’s about time that you started retaliating, even if it’s just by scrambling the two collective brain cells they have left. I don’t know that I could’ve put up with Rossi’s bullshit for as long as you have with the patience you’ve had.”

Her eyes snapped to him. “You know she’s lying?”

He scoffed. “Please, don’t insult my intelligence like that. Of course I know she’s lying.”

Marinette was silent. He could almost see the burden on her shoulders getting lighter with the realization she wasn’t alone in knowing Rossi was a liar and was about to comment further on it when Marinette smiled. It was a mischievous smile that promised trouble, which immediately intrigued Felix. He hadn’t seen much of her troublemaker side except for the few glimpses from her last interactions with the class, but he had a feeling there was one hell of a wicked streak somewhere underneath that cotton candy.

“You wanna help?”

He considered for a moment. Was it worth getting involved in? On one hand, it was enjoyable to just be merely a spectator. On the other hand, he wanted to know more about this side of Marinette and it was always enjoyable to see idiots put in their place.

“I’m in.”

- - - - - -

After school, Felix and Marinette were at their desk, waiting for the confrontation.

And like a bad penny, the class came back to try again. It seemed that they were shuffling who was leading the ‘Marinette how dare you’ brigade, and this time they had chosen Adrien. Felix knew about her crush on him, so he supposed that it was a rather strategic move on their part, if he wasn’t able to see the barely hidden disdain for the boy on her face.

“Marinette, you know that it wasn’t kind of you to throw Lila’s backpack down the stairs while she was in the cafeteria. That’s not the everyday Ladybug we all know and love.”

Ah, the guilt trip method. Usually foolproof on someone as empathetic as Marinette, rendered useless by Marinette’s developing apathy towards the class.

“It must’ve been someone else. I spent the lunch break teaching Mr. Ramier’s pigeons how to moonwalk. I wouldn’t have gotten back in time if Felix hadn’t realized the time and dragged me back.”

“Now, Marinette, don’t lie about it.”

“I’m not. Felix?”

Felix nodded, pulling up a video on his phone and showing it to the class. In it, Marinette stood next to some pigeons, clearly demonstrating how to moonwalk. The pigeons looked on curiously, occasionally pecking at her shoes and awkwardly waddling backwards. Mr. Ramier sat in the background, alternately cheering or throwing birdseed to the pigeons. The video clearly had the timestamp of about ten minutes before their break ended, so they would’ve had to rush to get back to class. There was no way they could’ve done anything.

Marinette looked back at Adrien and folded her arms. “Well? I’ll take my apology now.”

Felix snorted at the flabbergasted expression on Adrien’s face, casually putting his arm over Marinette’s shoulders. He didn’t really know why he did it, only that it felt right. Apparently she didn’t mind, since she just readjusted to be a bit more comfortable. “Give him a minute, he’s rebooting.”

“Wait, are the two of you dating?” He blurted out, then immediately looked like he regretted it.

This time, Marinette snorted. “Because the only reason he’d support me was if he was my boyfriend? No, that’s what friends are meant to do, Adrien.” The last sentence was laden with poison that Felix didn’t know the context for, but Adrien did, because he flinched.

“I’m sorry,” he muttered, turning away.

As soon as the class turned away, her head fell on his shoulder, her face crumpling in pain. He didn’t know what to do but hug her shoulders tighter. He’d seen that her love language was physical touch, so maybe it would help? After a while, her face smoothed and she lifted her head, seemingly doing better.

“Hey, thanks for backing me up.”

Felix shrugged. “It was fun.”

She turned to look at him. “No, I’m serious. It’s been a long time since anyone’s had my back, even if it’s just to mess with someone. Thank you.”

Why did he suddenly feel all warm inside? “So what’s the next plan?”

Marinette looked surprised. “You want to be involved in the next one?”

“Sure, why not?”

She looked away, her cheeks turning a light pink. “Maybe we could, well, I don’t know, I don’t want you thinking that I’m just saying this because Adrien said it because I promise I’m really not, but maybe we could, um, discuss it on a date?”

“But we hardly know each other.” What did she see in him that she liked? Sure, he’d helped her once, but that was hardly grounds for someone liking someone, was it?

“That’s the point of the date. To get to know someone. Besides, I want to see if you’re as nice as I suspect you are under that prickly exterior.” She was looking at him again, cheeks now a bright red, but with determination in her eyes.

Well, hadn’t he wanted to get to know her better too? “Sure.”

Let Her Eat Cake

After scouring the miraculous side of tumblr for writing prompts I could use for a one shot, I came across a post about Madame Bustier from @heyitsbugette. Basically a what-if with Bustier being incriminated as Mayura. As with all my other one shots, I’ll write it because canon has failed me one too many times. I’m also eating cake as I write this, bon appetite! (I might edit this later as this is an outline)

The entirety of Paris went wild when Lila’s alliance with Hawkmoth was unearthed.

Lila’s exposure was a complete accident. The Italian had tried to stir up drama while Marinette was absent for a week. She claimed that the asian girl had been skipping school and just using a ’sickness‘ as an excuse.

Marinette had dreamed of dating Adrien Agreste since rainy day when he’d offered her his umbrella. She’d fantasized of finally being able to tell him her feelings of him reciprocating of their happy dating life leading to a perfect fairy tale wedding where they’d adopt a hamster and live happily ever after. She truly deeply believed that Adrien was her prince charming that with him by her side things would be simpler, happier. But she’d been wrong.

Marinette wondered many times when exactly her perfect dream turned into a nightmare. Was it when Chloe made it clear that dating or not she’d always be ‘Adrikens’ number one priority and proceeded to increase her bullying of Marinette just to make sure to get her point across? Was it when Lila started spreading the malicious lie that Marinette was being ‘clingy’ and that her insistence on private dates alone was only further isolating Adrien from his friends, causing the guys in class to lecture her? Or maybe… Maybe it was when Adrien found out about her feelings and asked her out in the first place?

Chloe made her grand return 3 weeks after Lila and Adrien’s big dating announcement. The bossy blonde had been away in New York with her mother and it was only in retrospect that Marinette briefly wondered if the entire timing of her and Adriens break up and Lila and Adriens announcement had been planned. After all Chloe had not taken well to Marinette dating Adrien and the class president was positive she would not take the news that Lila had swooped in right after their big breakup any better.

As it turns out Marinette had been right at least about Chloe not taking the news well. She’d walked into class early (for her) only to be met with chaos as Chloe and Lila stood opposed and yelling filled the classroom. Despite the fact that Marinette KNEW Chloe would hate whoever dated Adrien the sight was still enough to leave her mildly stunned after all Lila and Chloe had been tag team harassing Marinette since the second she and Adrien had started dating so to see the once allies now locked in a vicious match each using their unique brand of awful against each other… Well it was something.

A Bakers Daughter by @ladyanput

This doesn’t actually have a title

“You’re not walking away from this, Marinette! If you need harrassing Lila like this, you’ll get arrested! Get it in your head! Adrien doesn’t want you! He would never want a baker’s daughter, someone so useless and uninspiring! You’ll never reach great heights, Lila does! Lila has more talent grace in one pinky, than you have in your entire being! You’ll always be a nobody and you need to learn to deal with that.”

All This After a Monkey Tries to Steal Marinette’s Purse by @cornholio4

“Dad, I can explain…” Alya replied while trying to think of an explanation that sounded somewhat believable.

“I sent Marinette to our house to wait for either of us, I want you home within half an hour to take over for the babysitting duties that you were supposed to be doing anyway! I will try and be home shortly to have a talk with you!” Otis told him sternly and Alya looked down sadly having to tell Nino and Adrien that she has to get home with them looking concerned.

“Marinette, aren’t you ashamed of yourself? Act like nothing is wrong. I didn’t know you could be that cold and calculating.” She caught everyone’s attention again, especially Marinette.

Marinette sighed, her elbow resting on the table, she laid her head on her palm. There was an air of boredom around her. Chloe, Sabrina and Nathaniel with unimpressed looks on their faces.

New York Special Salt: Confrontation by @nobodyfamousposts

Adrien was shaking at this point, but forcing himself to remain steady.

“You both knew Marinette liked me. Fine. Sure. Apparently she was having trouble telling me this. That’s okay. You knew she felt this way and was having trouble telling me. I get that.”

He glared.

“What I don’t get is why it was necessary to go THIS far instead of just TELLING me what was going on yourselves?!”

Exposed by @miraculousbelladonna

She is still absolutely going to have words with her bestie later, but she doesn’t think twice about posting the life changing video onto her blog.

All she’s thinking about is how it’s so cool that she’s the one who found Ladybugs identity. It’s so cool that she’s the one who’s revealing it. It’s so cool that her best friend, Marinette, is Ladybug. Her views are going to go through the roof. Television channels are going to be talking about this, they’re going to be calling her and asking to use her footage.

FACT CHECK

spooky-z:

Of all the investigations Alya had done in the name of journalism, finding out that Chloe Bourgeois and Marinette Dupain-Cheng were dating had been… disheartening.

Lila had told her she noticed the strange behavior of Chloe and Marinette, suspecting that the two were together, but Alya dismissed the idea because Chloe and Marinette dating? This could only be a joke.

But it was when Alya also noticed the behavior of the two girls and decided to investigate, that the truth came out.

Lila was right. She would never doubt her best friend again.

I decided that I want to take on the fandom specific plot of Alya passing off babysitting to Marinette when she wasn’t supposed to with her getting paid for it. I think this is between salt and bashing so let me know what you think of this plot idea. The best one of this plot idea that I had ever read was the Babysitting Fisaco by quicksilversquared.

chocolate1721 asked:

Can you write some alya salt where she uses “Adrien deserves better than some bakers daughter” in front of the entire class and the Batfam

ladyanput:

Cocoa, I stg I love you.

Okay, to let everyone know, Marinette and the rest of the class is eighteen, okay? I don’t do creepy with children.

I’m not the one who drew that Miraculous comic.

Marinette was having a nice day today, a dreamy face spread across her face as she gazed out her classroom window from her seat in the back of the class. Damian had texted her, telling her that he had a big surprise for her. She could only imagine what it was her boyfriend was going to do, he could be a bit unpredictable, but that’s what she loved about him.

She was so lost in her thoughts, she failed to notice Alya storming up to her, a fury glint in her eyes. The reporter slammed a cell phone down in front of Marinette.

“How could you be so messed up, Marinette? I know you’re a bully, but I didn’t expect you to be this trashy!” Alya snarled at the dark haired girl, soon crossing her arms.

Marinette stared down at the phone, seeing the texts sent to this phone. Many of them saying how Adrien was all theirs, that they wouldn’t let Lila get her hands on him, that they and Adrien were destined to be together. Once glance at the number make it clear that this was Marinette’s old number, before she had disconnected her old phone and had gotten herself a new cell phone. Not that the class had noticed, as no one had texted Marinette in the past three years.

“You’re a real crazy stalker, you know that? You’re just so jealous that you threaten Lila? She’s with Adrien, get over it! He doesn’t want anything to do with you!” Alya slammed her hands on the desk again, glaring furiously, while Lila sat at her seat, surrounded by the class and pitifully sniffling. Adrien was nowhere in sight.

“Alya, I didn’t send those.” Marinette said flatly, picking up her bag. Screw it, she’d wait for Damian out in the courtyard, school was over anyways.

“It’s your phone number, don’t lie to me..” Alya hissed, reaching out for her, but stumbled when Marinette merely nudged her aside and headed outside. With a screech of rage, Alya stormed after her, the class following close behind, none of them seeing Lila’s grin as she followed.

When Marinette entered the courtyard, she was surprised to see Damian standing there with his family and her parents. She lifted her hand to wave, but Alya roughly grabbed her wrist and made her turn around.

“I highly suggest you unhand my fiancée.” Damian’s icy tone halted any conversation. Everyone turned and stared at him, seeing the cold fury in his green eyes. He strode up and grabbed Alya’s wrist so tightly, she yelped and released her grip on Marinette. The youngest Wayne shot her a warning look, before he turned his concerned gaze to Marinette, leaning down and kissing her softly. “Sorry that I’m late, Angel. Jason kept stuffing his face at your parents’ bakery.”

“It’s fine, mon prince… I’m just glad you’re here.” Mari hummed and returned the kiss, her arms wrapping around his neck. “Wait, fiancée?”

“I guess I ruined the surprise, huh?” Damian gave a sheepish grin.

“Who the hell are you?” Alya snapped as Lila came up beside her, weeping pitifully and dashing away her crocodile tears.

“She must be a guy she probably paid to date her, to make Adrien jealous and take him from me!” Lila wailed, collapsing into a sobbing mess in Alya’s arms.

“I don’t need to be hired for anything, trust me. I’d date Marinette even if it meant I had to give up everything I owned.” Damian hugged Marinette tighter, rolling his eyes as Lila’s theatrics.

“And trust me when I say, the Wayne family would be more than honoured to have a baker’s daughter, who has more talent and kindness in one fingernail, than any of you have combined.” Bruce Way strode up as Damian slid the engagement ring onto Marinette’s finger, the loving couple ignoring the rantings of Alya and the wails coming from Lila.

“Wait, the Wayne family..? As in Bruce Wayne?!” Rose squealed out, bouncing on her toes. “Mari is marrying Damian Wayne?!”

“Of course I am. He stole my heart two years ago, when I went to America for a competition.” Marinette spoke up, shrugging casually, giving Damian a warm kiss on the cheek.

“But… But you never told us.” Alya stuttered out, noticing that the entire Wayne family was staring daggers at her.

“Of course not. We’re not friends, Alya. I also never told you I changed my phone number either.” Mari shrugged, setting her hands on her hips. “And trust me, I’m not in love with a guy who isn’t even interested in my sex.”

“What?!” Lila screeched, her eyes going wide with horror.

“Did none of them actually realize Adrien was gay?” Damian’s brows shot up in shock. “Hell, he’s currently off on a couple’s cruise with Jon, how did they not know?”

“Because they’re idiots.” Jason called over, a sneer on his face.

“W- well, congratulations on the engagement, Marinette!” Alya realized she had to do some serious back pedalling. Marinette was marrying into THE Wayne family, and to Bruce Wayne’s only biological son! This would be the story of the century! “When is it going to be?”

“Now, Alya…” Marinette grinned at her, and the sharpness of it made Alya’s stomach sink. “Who on earth would want to go to a baker’s daughter’s wedding?”

Begging on your Knees (songfic)

mochinek0:

Damian sighed as another episode of Criminal Minds, played in the background.

He wasn’t sure when or how it happened, but he had fallen for his best friend, Marinette. The same Marinette that was in a committed relationship with Adrien Agreste.

He was shaken from his thoughts as someone pounded on his apartment door.

‘Who the hell?’

Damian muted the show and headed to answer the door, ready to shout at whoever was interrupting his personal day.

There was no time to react when he felt someone latch onto his person. He looked down, ready to throw the person across the hall, when he realized it was Mari sobbing in his arms.

Quickly, he guided her to the couch. Damian held her in his arms as he allowed her to cry herself out. He knew he’d get answers when she was ready.
